7 Things you can do Right Now to Instantly Look Better!
Hi BFFs! Hope you are having a beautiful, blessed day! So you want to know what you can do right now to look better instantly. In this article I will share some quick tips and tricks that you might find helpful and might not have thought of. And no... These are not just beauty tips for women, men can also benefit from them! Before I start off, I just want to remind you that you are already beautiful -- we all are! We just don't always see it or feel it.
1. Increase Your Confidence
Easier said then done right? I don't mean acting like a total diva of course, but how you feel about yourself on the inside will show on the outside -- If you feel bad, you will look bad! My level of confidence is up there and it has to be considering I'm putting myself out there blogging, YouTubing and running my social media business. Having said that, just like everyone else, there are days when my confidence is lacking. I have fat days, bad hair days, PMS days, nothingworksforme days... You name it! Rather than beating yourself up with negative words -- built yourself up with positive words! Try this exercise:
Proudly stand upright front of a full-length mirror (naked or not). Look at yourself and out loud, name 5 things that you like about yourself. This can be about your physical appearance and about your personality. (ignore that pimple on your nose, ignore the fat roll that came out of no where, ignore the cellulite and stretchmarks, ignore all the presumed negatives!) Do this every morning before starting your day and over time, you will feel what you're saying and it will show on the outside. Focus on the positive! (Wow, just call me Dr. Phil.)
2. Comb Your Hair
This one is a no-brainer! Simply combing and styling your hair will instantly make you look better. No body likes dirty, greasy, messy locks that hide your face. Pull a comb through it and if you don't want to wash you hair, opt for a sleek bun or ponytail. Don't just let it hang like a curtain in front of your pretty face.
3. Learn How to Apply Makeup
Applying makeup is an art -- hence makeup ARTIST. Learning how to master this art can be challenging if you don't know what you're doing. However, practice makes perfect! After leaning how to apply makeup, you can use it to instantly look better. The trick is to learn how to enhance your features and not hide them with layers of makeup. Check out my MAKEUP FOR NEWBIES series on my YouTube channel for easy, step-by-step makeup tutorials for beginners.
4. Smile More
Nobody likes a grouch! When you smile, whether real or fake, your brain gets the message that you are experiencing humor and releases dopamine and serotonin. The first increases happy feelings and the latter reduces stress -- all contributing to making you look and feel better and more attractive to others. So much of looking better is determined by what's going on inside of you. Try this exercise:
If you have a stressful day ahead, look in the mirror in the morning before getting ready and for 30 seconds, just smile. Grin at yourself (which will make you laugh even more) and laugh out loud. This will set the stage for a happy day. You can even do this while stuck in traffic. Smiling will lower stress and you feel better. That feeling will make you look better and more attractive to others.
5. Whiten Your Teeth
White teeth take years of your face and just brighten up your whole appearance. There are many instant options nowadays. Find what works for you, whether it's professional whitening or whitening strips, don't be afraid to consult your dentist for different options.
6. Find an Effective Skincare Routine
Applying the right products to your skin can be the difference between having flawless skin and flawed skin. Always find what works best for your skin type. I often review new beauty products on my blog and social media, but that doesn't always mean that what works for me, will work for you. I'm also a big fan of consulting a dermatologist. When I was hit with horrible adult acne right before my televised pageant days, it was the dermatologist who saved my sanity and gave me back my acne-free skin and confidence.
7. Get those ZZZZZZ
They don't call it beauty sleep for nothing! When you get sufficient, deep sleep, your body produces collagen which promotes skin elasticity. It also produces growth hormone, which helps with cell and tissue repair. When you wake up after a quality 7-9 hours of sleep, dark circles and fine lines will be less noticeable and you will look rested and more attractive. It pays off to go to bed a little earlier to ensure you get the full benefits of sleep. I need to practice what I preach, because I hardly ever get enough sleep. I'm going to make it a point to keep track of my sleeping schedule from here on.
These are 7 things you can do right now to look better. Of course there are many more things you can incorporate into your lifestyle. I might touch on them in a future blog. Which one did you like best? Are you using some of them? Did you discover some new things? Sound of below. Don't be shy.
